The Pakistan Academy of Letters established regional offices at the four provincial headquarters at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta in 1988. The regional offices are meant to facilitate liaison between writers of the four provinces. The regional offices coordinate trip of visiting foreign writers as well as inter-provincial tours of the local writers. They keep the head office informed about the state of literary affairs and their responsibilities with regard to local writers, poets and scholars as well as learned bodies receiving grants from the Academy and recommend cases of writers in need of financial assistance. The Academy has initiated work on the project of setting-up its regional offices in its own buildings. This will enhance Academy’s overall performance.
